If you meet a lot of new people and make it your business to always meet new people, you inevitably build up a sizeable collection of business cards. Like with most tools, it’s not what you have but how you put it to use that will ultimately yield results for you. When it came to business cards, I have tried it all. Filing them in a business card holder, scribbling notes on them, sorting them into separate groups but nothing has been as effective as my newest discovery! A business card scan app for my iPhone. I use ScanBizCard (there are a hundred other brands so feel free to experiment and find one that works best for you).
This app has a very easy to use interface, costs less than ten bucks and gives truckloads of value!
Here are my top five reasons for recommending this app:
1. I can scan business cards in seconds right into my iPhone address book!
2. It allows me to forward the scanned business card to myself or to other contacts via email.
3. It gives me the option to then find the individual (whose card I have scanned) on Linked In and send him an invite instantly. It allows me to set a reminder or a calendar date to schedule a meeting or follow up call with this contact. I can even send an instant introduction email to the contact with my own details so that they remember me (in case they have lost or misplaced my business cards).
4. It allows me to create notes for each contact so I know when I met them, who introduced us and what we talked about!
5. I can sort and group my cards in various custom folders.
So much intelligence and it’s all just for $4.99. This is great value and goes a long way to enhance your productivity.
Note: the iPhone 3GS is required to obtain clear pictures of business cards
